The car started as a rust free Texas car initially sold at Bill Beene Ford in Comanche Oklahoma. This car spent almost all it’s life in Texas and the sheet metal definitely shows this to be true.
Body
The car was initially stripped down to the shell and also stripped down to bare metal. The rear panel was replaced with a NOS replacement and also the fenders were replaced with NOS Ford replacements.
The Mach’s body was worked for many many hours to assure great lines and is laser straight. All body panels were mocked up before work to assure a much better fit than from the factory. Once all the sanding and blocking was done the car was painted with quality products from PPG, then sanded and buffed to what you see today. All the trim including all the window, Mach I and rear is original to the car and was restored and polished by a local professional polishing company. Many NOS parts were used to finish the body including the honeycomb bezel, rear taillight bezels, front rock guard and headlight bezels. All the rest of the pieces, door handles, running light bezels, etc. are new.
Drivetrain
Let’s start with the engine and engine compartment. Under the hood is a highly detailed restoration with proper markings and other details. Included with the original restored Shaker assembly is also the snorkel, S Tube and Heat shield. This car comes with it’s original radiator, fan assembly, fan shroud, and all pulleys.
The engine is a NOM 428 block bored thirty over. The pictures will point out the additional webbing which indicates it’s authenticity. On top of a correct Cobra Jet intake is the original 4V Automatic with A/C carb. This motor is completely fresh and built right in our shop.
The transmission is the original numbers matching C-6 big in big out transmission that has been fully restored and shifts great.
The rearend assembly is also the original numbers matching nodular 31 spline with 3.00 gear. All other components (driveshaft, transmission components, etc.) have been fully restored to the highest quality.
Undercarriage and Suspension
The underneath of this car is fully restored. Now we didn’t paint this car with red oxide primer and overspray everywhere. This was not the look we were going for. We had already painted the car with base clear so why should we do a bad job of detailing just because the factory did. We did take great measures to leave as much of the undercoating that was applied underneath but went with a very durable black paint called hot rod black. The underneath and suspension were totally restored and shows a lot of detail. This car came originally with Deep Dish Sport wheel covers which will come with the car but now rides on a set of NOS 14 inch Magnums.
Interior
No detail was left out of the Deluxe interior either. From the restored A/C heater plenum and all dash pieces. The AM/8 Track radio was sent out and restored so that it would be cosmetically and physically functional. We restored the center console with great care to also include the factory flocking inside the compartment. The gauge and clock panels were restored back to it’s original shine with a process that would bring the chrome highlights back to its original shine unlike most that are just painted silver. The A/C heater controls were put thru the same process. All new floor insulation and carpet, new seat covers new headliner and new professionally restored seat belts with correct date coding. The car also comes with completely new tinted glass and new quarter window framing.
In Closing
From top to bottom this car has been meticulously restored and was given every effort to restore it at a high standard. The detail in this car is just breathtaking and can only be appreciated up close. We have provided a very large number of pictures for you to look at but nothing tells the story like seeing it in the flesh. Please give us a call to set up a appointment for inspection at your convenience.
